AMRP

An applied management research project is a part of almost all MBA courses conducted by various management institutes across the globe. It gives the students an opportunity to do some research and gain knowledge on their areas of interest.

About Mobile Payments

India is a vast country with a teeming population of 1.2 billion people. The nation on one hand is fast growing as an emerging economy and is set to compete with some of the largest economies of the world. But on the other hand is its population of millions who live in remote villages and are unable to access the basic needs of livelihood. Certain sections of the urban populace have high incomes and can afford a lavish way of life with credit cards, debit cards and high end internet banking facilities at their disposal. However, the bigger sections of the population live in remote villages where basic systems if payments like Banks themselves are not common. It is difficult and costly for the Government to provide Banks, ATMs and other cash based payment systems everywhere in India. However, mobile phone penetration in India is amazingly deep with about 80% of the population being able to afford at least one handset. In this Research Project we would try to evaluate the benefits Mobile Phones can bring for payment systems and formulate the design for the implementation of the same.

Participants

Payments and transactions are carried out among Businesses, Governments and Consumers. Transactions have existed even from the time of the Barter System.
